January 2010
Well, it's been an interesting month so far. December ended with being the snowiest month on record! And we've had some interesting snows this month also. Temperatures have varied from -17 degrees to +43.
Mrs. Clause (Ella) and I helped a friend on New Year's eve. She owns a ballroom and had a large party booked. We took digital photos of the people as they posed in front of a 2010 sign. That's the first time in a long time that we've been awake at midnight on New Year's.
We've been babysitting with great-granddaughter, Lorelai on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays in January. On Fridays we collect great-granddaughter Charlotte from her preschool. We then all go swimming for an hour-or-so until Nathan comes to get them.
We've had Charlotte a couple of extra days when school was dismissed because of the weather.
Linnea brought by some Christmas gifts on the 4th.
On the 5th we had supper with friends at Epworth UMC.
Amber called on the 6th to say that their gifts from us had arrived.
Ella had a Dr.'s appointment on the 6th for a physical.
the 7th brought a blizzard (we stayed home and warm while Nate brought the girls to us)
The 10th we went to Adam & Leigha's for a joint birthday party for Tate & Emery.
Both kids had grown so much from the last time we saw them.
Tom is now part of the worship committee at Union Park UMC. (I'd managed to avoid committees until I retired)
We saw "Avatar" in 3D on the 14th. We chose the matinee in the middle of the week and had only a handful of people in attendance. The movie was everything that people have said it would be. i.e. very simple plot that we've seen a hundred times (think "Dances with wolves" or the Ewoks battle with the Imperial Storm Troopers). The CGIs were truly amazing! There wasn't one of the incredible background scenes that looked "painted" or phony.
Grandson Brandon had a show choir preformance on the 15th. Lincoln's show choir has over 40 members in it. What a lot of talent.
