2012 January 20

8:45 a.m.  Well, I said that today might be exciting.  I didn't realize that it would start with us waking two minutes before Ella's doctor's appointment.

We would have made a fireman proud as we jumped into our clothes and headed out the door.

I brought up Poynt on my Droid for directions while Ella called to let them know we were coming and running late.

They got Ella right in as we arrived. They have dialated her eyes and now we wait.

10:30 a.m.  stopped at Burger King for breakfast. Two #2 combos. We discussed Ella's two cataract surgery appointments , Feb. 13 and Mar. 5.  She'll also need a physical before the surgery.

11:00 a.m.  Back home at the North Pole.  And it feels like the arctic today.  Looks like the snow missed us again ... For now.

Now we are just waiting for time to leave for Ella's dentist appointment.  Hopefully her last dentist appointment for a while.

2:30 p.m. Home again.  Ella WILL have another dentist appointment on the 24th.  Next week on the 25th, my turn at getting rebuilt will begin.  That will be my first visit to the VA Hospital.  It is a full physical.  From there I'm hoping to get dental work, glasses and finally do something about my leg/knee/feet.

Ella will be heading to work soon. While she's at work I'm going to be working on paperwork to start receiving my tiny retirement funds from ConAgra.  'Tain't much but it's welcome.  Oh yeah, I will turn sixty-five on Monday.

2012 January 19

COLD!  Suddenly cold!  Severely cold!  The forecasters are rolling dice or flipping coins with their predictions.  We will either get buried in snow real soon or it will miss us completely.  Tomorrow may be very interesting.
As a matter of fact, I’d rather write about tomorrow than today.  Other than the weather, there was not much to write about today.  I conducted the Bible study at Emeritus as usual on Thursdays.  Other than that, neither of us spent much time out of our recliners.
It was relaxing and boring.  Tomorrow we are scheduled for Ella’s eye doctor at eight and her dentist for noon.  If the snow and wind comes in tonight, tomorrow may be exciting.  We’ll see.2012 January 19

2012 January 18

That moment just before the sunrise
Then that blazing glory bursts forth!
starting the day with a trip to the dentist (for Ella) ... what fun!
Then a stop at Dollar Tree to pick up stocking stuffers ... yes, Ella is planning for 2012
Now a stop at Village Inn for lunch ... trying the new menu item ...
and of course, FREE PIE

Sorry, not a very good photo, but it does taste good.
The rice pilaf was just the right texture and
the black beans made a complimentary side for the dish.
The chicken fried steak was noting special ... j
ust what you would get if you'd ordered it with sausage gravy.
The topping of sliced peppers was warm and still crisp with
melted cheese and strips of fried tortilla chips
