2012 August 21-28

Tuesday 21st
We babysat with Lorelia and William. We took the kids with us when we attended the funeral of our daughter-in-law’s father.  Then, after babysitting, we went to John and Dawn’s house for supper.  Annika’s (former exchange student) arrived in Des Moines in the evening and she went to Nathan & Beth’s to stay while she’s here.

Wednesday 22nd
Free Pie day at Village Inn.  Yep! That and the fact that I worked from 3:30 to 9 is the only thing I remember about Wednesday the 22nd.

Thursday 23r
Both Ella and I had the day off from work.  We babysat Lorelia and William and visited with Annika.  I took them to International House Of Pancakes (IHOP) for lunch.  IHOP is one of Annika’s favorite places to eat.

Friday 24th
I spent the morning at the VA Healthcare being reviewed for physical therapy and then having physical therapy.  I have exercises to do at home and then will go to the VA twice a week for three weeks for additional therapy.  Then I worked from 3:30 to 10 p.m.

Saturday 25th
Ella worked the clubhouse at Cutty’s from 1 to 11:30 p.m. due to a wedding and reception at the clubhouse.  I went to our Saturday Praise Service at Union Park UMC.  I had cooked anasazi beans in the crockpot all day and when I got home from church I added a lot of shedded carrots and shredded romain lettuce.  I then took this to Ella for supper.  I stayed with her at the clubhouse until she was off work.

Sunday 26th
I preached at Cutty’s and Ella worked the afternoon/evening shift

Monday 27th
We both had the day off.  Annika, Beth, Lorelia and William came for a visit and Annika got a tour of the Excel and the Hitch Hiker RVs.  After they left for lunch with some friends, we took our paychecks to the bank.  From there we went to Kmart on Hubbell to look for some pants for Ella.  While she was looking for clothes, I checked out the vacuum cleaners.  We still need a vacuum to take to Texas in the Hitch Hiker.  Neither of us found anything worth purchasing.
We took a drive through downtown Des Moines, which we hadn’t done in a long time, and stopped at the Salvation Army Store.  We didn’t find anything there that we needed.  We stopped at Ryan’s Steakhouse for lunch.  We have been cutting way back on our meat intake lately and eating more veggies.  However, at Ryan’s I had both chicken and pork on my plate before I even considered veggies.  After lunch we stopped at another Kmart where we once again purchased nothing at all.  On the way home we stopped at Wellspring Book and Bible and bought a 3 CD set of hymns to give as a Thank You gift to Teresa.  Teresa has been our worship music leader for the last two years at Cutty’s.

Tuesday 27th
I worked the fee booth from 8 to 4:30.  Ella babysat.

Wednesday 28th 7:15 a.m. I’m sitting typing this post.
I just returned from dropping Ella off at the doctor’s for an endoscopy.  She has been having trouble swallowing.  I have to leave for work as soon as I’ve posted this.  I have only 7 days of work left this season.  The last day being the 29th on the evening shift – the very last shift at the fee booth for the year.
